The current gym was opened to start the 1952-53 season, so yes it is historic. Just think of the teams, players and coaches that have been on that court and in that gym - Inez, Meade Memorial, Wheelwright, Prestonsburg, Pikeville, Salyersville, Clay County, Lexington Catholic, all of the Paintsville teams, Billy Ray Cassidy, Adolph Rupp, Joe B. Hall, Rick Pitino, Denny Crum, Roy Williams, Billy Donovan, John Pelphrey, Ritchie Farmer, Bobby Keith, Coach Runyon, etc.!! That building has a lot of histroy - it is a great atmosphere and I wish that all kids in Kentucky could experience it during tournament time!!!!
