I think he has a great up side, but unfortunately he has very poor mechanics which is one of two reasons why he could possibly have arm problems. The second is the way in which the coaching staff has abused and misused him the last couple of seasons. I saw him get put on the mound several times last year in relief roles in a couple of games and was brought into the games when the games were basicly over, like when the mercy rule was about to take effect. Just made absolutely no sense whatsoever. Hopefully for the sake of Scott Little he has found someone in the offseason to help him with his mechanical flaws, and hopefully a changed mentality with the coaching staff about preserving his future. He does have talent on the mound and I hope he gets a chance to play at the next level.
Your probably going a little to the extreme with that statement. What is his 60 time,( preferrably not home team clockings)? Pugh and Blanton are the two fastest players in the region. It's not even close. I know that Pugh has been gotten at least with a 6.8 and possibly faster in the 60. I also know that Blanton has been laser timed at 6.73. The thing about Pugh and Blanton are that they are just as quick as they are fast. There is a difference and it is just as vital.
As as power numbers who knows, it's hard to guage a kid against another kid that plays most of their games at Stumbo Park against kids such as those that play at Johnson Central or Pikeville where there may in some seasons never be a homerun hit out their park by either the home team or the visiting team. High school stats can be very misleading.
I suppose we're all entitled to our opinions. Also, who is to say that Little's stats are not as legit as someone from Johnson Central, Paintsville, Pikeville, Sheldon Clark or anywhere else for that matter? Who is not to say that those stats are not home cooking as well? How do you know that Little's 60 isn't just as good as Pugh's or Blanton's? I will give these players something - in the way they're built and their quickness - they are arguably the best base runners in the region. Mr. Little is built differently with long legs but is still just as fast running the 60. He steals a lot of bases just as well. Also, whether he may or may not have been misused by the coaching staff is in question. He may have, but neither you nor I know how much he pitched last season to make a justifiable judgement. Unless that is, you followed the team to every game - in which I don't think so based on your statements. And I do agree that Floyd County is in lack of facilities when compared to surrounding counties. But at the same time, no major league field is the same either. In Boston or New York left handed batters have an advantage. The HR's still count. Also, have all of his HR's been at Stumbo Park? If not, then where? All I'm saying is that, IMO, he may be the top player in the region.
