^ Actually her local school does attend competitions, and they won region & sweet 16 state last year. And if your going to say KAPOS doesnt cater to Pikeville, your crazy. Nobody is trying to take anything away from the Pikeville squads, because they are very good. Just a little bit of confusion about why a middle school team competed in the junior high category at nationals, but competes as a high school team at KAPOS.

There is no confusion. Junior high is as stated at nationals. (Junior High age)
As for the other, that is what the state dictates. This has become a gripe session by some. Why should anybody care. If Belfry would beat JC, are they going to complain (no). It is just 12 and 13 year olds competing against 17 and 18 year olds, and that is why at state they usually do no better than 4th or 5th. I did see JC middle this weekend and they are good. As for KAPOS, they are controlled by mainly Louisville and Western KY people, and do not cater to EKY. Pikeville has a good reputation state and nation wide for its program. It would be good for the whole area if other people elevated their programs to that level.
