A hard fought game by the Pirates but too much Gilbert in this one. I was extremely impressed by the Lions. They are only a single A team but except possibly Paintsville or Shelby Valley, in my opinion no team in the 15th region could stand a reasonable chance of beating this team. They were simply a better team than the Pirates. They were also a big team. Belfry played good defense as usual and forced alot of turnovers but couldn't capitalize on them. Belfry missed alot of layups again also. But the biggest factor in the game was just Gilbert's size. I don't know the final rebound totals or anything but I would venture to say that Gilbert doubled up Belfry's rebounds at least. I can remember 3 possessions in particular where they had to pick up like 5 offensive rebounds at in the same possession before finally scoring. Belfry just could not get rebounds and Gilbert was also very impressive on defense.
