My grandpa serves in the Army for a long time during the Korean War...I remember he use to always tell me stories (good ones) and how he saved people and he would get out his uniforms and put them on me and call me his little soldier. He passed away the summer before my freshman year of high school and when I made out my schedule I decided to join the J.R.O.T.C as my way of honoring his memory...that was the hardest I had ever worked at anything and it was special to me because I felt that it connected me with him...I miss him...I was a greandpa's girl... my mom and I use to live with them until I was in about 4th grade. I have one of his camo army jackets and his chemical protectant suit that he wore in Korea...I miss him sooo much.
I'm glad we have people like my grandpa fighting for out country and sacrificing everyting for our freedom. I don't think people truly understand the sacrifices that they make in order to protect our beloved country. I thank each and every one of them from the bottom of my heart.
