 This is Coach Pecks first experience as HC at JC.  Totally different ballgame between calling all the shots vs just a few. That's what I mean when I compare the two coaches. 

Agreed that he did take over a program in way better shape than when it was when Coach Matney first took over. The JC football program was almost a parking lot before Coach Matney took over. 5 straight trips to the state title game, that's definitely a gold mine. 

Is this Coach Pecks 4th year as HC? I heard maybe it was. I was thinking it's his 3rd.

Yes, this is year 4 for Peck. First year was 10-3 with a loss to Corbin in 3rd round in a pretty competitive game. Second year was 9-4 with a 31-0 loss to Cov Cath in the 3rd round. Third year was 8-4 with a 14-13 loss to Cov Cath in the 2nd round. 

This is for sure a major learning experience for Peck. You are having to pick up so much in the head coaching role that you aren't responsible for as a coordinator. My biggest concern is that he was the defensive coordinator before becoming HC and now the defense has really fallen off. First year they gave up 14.6 ppg. Second year it was up to 19.8 ppg. Third year it was 24.7 ppg. That is a difference of 10.1 more ppg over 3 seasons. That trend has to reverse and it may require Peck taking a more hands on role with the defense like when he was a coordinator rather than completely handing it off to someone else.
