Instead of buying into your role and trying to do whatever you can to help the team win, you transfer out to somewhere where you think you will do better individually. Is Seth Caudill a better player than Combs? Yes, I think so. But are individual accomplishments worth more to you than winning? if so I think he made the right move.

Some interesting stats from Combs in what I would consider "Big Games" for Hazard last season
WYMT Championship vs. Harlan Co.- 2 pts (1-4) from 3
14th Region All A Championship vs Breathitt- 9 pts (1-5) from 3
1st round of All A state tournament vs Green County- 3 pts (1-4) from 3
2nd round of All A state tournament vs Clinton County- 8 pts (2-5) from 3
All A Final 4 vs Danville Christian- 6 pts (1-9) from 3
54th District finals vs Perry Central- 2 pts (0-3) from 3
14th region tournament 1st round vs Knott- 5 pts (1-3) from 3
14th region finals vs Breathitt- 5 pts (1-2) from 3

Combs PPG vs Buckhorn, Prestonsburg, Leslie, Moore, Jenkins, Wolfe, Jackson City, and Lee= 14 PPG
Combs PPG vs Breathitt, Perry Central, Knott Central, Harlan County, Madison Central= 8 PPG

These are stats taken straight off the KHSAA website. To me, this screams, "When times get tough, or things get hard, run and hide" Transferring to a rival school fits the same motto.
Interesting numbers. The kid can shoot, but again, he is going to have to find a way to get his own shots. Easy to guard someone if they are stationary. Along with Miller and Sumner, that seems to be the case for their offense. Hacker will create more than Combs, Miller, and Sumner, which may open some kickouts if they help on defense. There is no Woods or Caudill out there to create the shots the others got last year. One of them is going to have to step up their game to take more initiative to create offense for themselves and their teammates. Not basking either kid. That is just their style of play. Hopefully, one of them opens their game up. If they do, then Perry will be better for it, as will the other players.
