How long does a kid need to attend a school before they're considered to be from said school? Carter spent fours years at Ashland. Cam Davis has been there since the 7th or 8th grade. I think Frieze transferred in his freshmen year. If a kid spends his entire high school career at a school, then he/she is from that school. The kid from South Point, his mom is employeed by the school. It's not like Ashland is bringing in a bunch of one and done kids each year.

If a kid shows up at ANY school in middle school or as feshmen in high and he/she grows to be an outstanding player, then that is a direct result of Ashland, not their previous school.

That’s a good point. How long does it take to credit a player’s development to the school they transferred to? Looking at last season’s APB roster: Smith is from BC, Hoskins is from Morgan County, and Neel Russell, Carter played five seasons at APB. He took the COVID year to repeat his freshman season but never moved to Ashland and lives in Greenup County. Freize also took a COVID year, though most of his formative years were spent at EC. The South Point player resides in South Point, and his mother teaches there, not in Ashland. Deboard was at APB for less than a year. Marcum, originally from Cabell Midland, left right after APB lost in the State tournament, enrolled at Cabell Midland the following Monday, and graduated there. Porter was mainly developed at Elliot County.

In my opinion, the players mentioned were either developed at their previous schools or never relocated from their original communities. So, their development should be attributed to the schools where they spent most of their formative years, not the schools they currently attend.

APB exemplifies the practice of allowing others to cultivate talent and then encouraging transfers once the individuals reach high school age.

HOOPFAN have you really watched the kids you have spoke about previous team?  Elliott, Boyd, Greenup, Morgan, Russell coaches I wouldn’t consider them being over achievers in fundamental teaching.  I hope and pray you can win one regional title and break A-Towns stronghold of 7 regional title straight with other regional players that was recruited lol.  The County last regional title came from a recruit from Ohio who was the best player while the Boyd county’s favorite son (Stewart) played second fiddle that year.
