Madison County Schools have been wanting to absorb Berea since I went there in the 70's and 80's. There probably wouldn't be a Southern if Berea had folded when another snake in the grass superintendent named Bill Bennet was pilfering the schools budget for personal gain. If I remember right, in the 70's he hit them for like 300K which was big jack back then. They had the crisis and also had to replace the asbestos in the roof at the time which didn't help the budget at all. Probably similar to the crisis they are seeing today. They had to trim everything back then and made it through the crisis. Hopefully they make it through this one and shed that woman that has been living large.
