What Hoopfan never acknowledges is the first year that Mays coached at Ashland he inherited the team that was left from the previous coach and still won the region.
And this recruiting talk is not always recruiting. Many parents all over Kentucky want their kids in the best place to succeed. Some move their children for academics, some for athletics, some for both.
And from what I’m hearing there is a very strong possibility that the KHSAA will be enacting a “One Time Transfer” policy at the fall 2025 meeting. The state legislature was going to propose a bill for just that but I heard the KHSAA people told them there was no need that they would take care of it on their end. Indiana just did the same. It will make for a lot less work and headaches for the KHSAA imo.

If KY goes to the one-year transfer rule it would be destruction to the majority of schools to be able to compete. If you want to see a model. Look at WV, they did this, and the football scores looked crazy. It has destroyed the level playing field and coaches actually having to develop kids. Them actually having to coach!

Poor coaching gets masked by you have the better Jimmy then Joes due to rules just like this. It is high school not pro. Let kids be kids, the reason the rules were put in place is to keep things like that from happening. The push is for ego driven parents and coaches to stack teams and win. It really is sad and pathetic.

As far as what we are talking about, little Jimmy isn't moving because he can't be challenged in the classroom. IDK of any school that you can't take college course now while in high school. JM isn't talking about math class on his recruiting calls. LOL
