South Laurel 65 Corbin 64 (OT) 50th District Championship
#23
In three years I see Corbin's Ryder Akins as a high level Division 1 prospect. I have followed him closely since seeing him drop 35 against HC first game. He possesses the elite athleticism required to be a D1 guard (I refer you to block off the backboard against Rawlings in SL game). He also has decent size for a PG at 6'3. He gives you that "different" thing you saw when watching Reed and Trent. Even if he has a bad game you still can see the potential. Whether it's catching an alley oop dunk over the 6'8" kid from Evangel or something else. He has that opportunistic way of playing defense like Reed by getting in passing lanes and stealing the ball. He plays very unselfish and is always trying to get other guys going. This Summer he is playing with one of the top AAU programs (Team Loaded Virginia) in the country. They play on one of the best circuits in the country. He will be seen by many high level D1 schools. At this point he has miles to go before reaching the levels of a Trent Noah or Reed Sheppherd. I even think it's improbable. I do think he has a shot though.
