South Laurel 65 Corbin 64 (OT) 50th District Championship
#19
South upped their intensity and Corbin folded. Outside of Eli P and Akins, i didn’t see anyone for corbin who was strong enough with the ball to withstand that onslaught. Corbin threw the ball all over the gym that last 2:30. Akins was swarmed and i feel corbin shouldve found a way to ensure he controlled the ball when the redhounds were in the bonus. Ive said corbin has more talent but south has a bunch of gamers as well as a dominant player in jordan mabe. The freshman taylor and rawlings were big in the second half for the cardinals. I expected more from evan ellis. He hit three three pointers and had some nice assists but he needed to be better in that game for corbin to win. It didn’t help that corbins other freshman dawson farmer had two points. The freshman Ryder Akins is a special talent. And by special i mean trent, reed, andrew taylor and Maddox huff special. I felt the same watching him this game as i did a couple times with reed and noah. It’s still hard to believe he is a freshman. He blocked rawlins off the backboard and his hand was at the top of the square. I can’t believe the list of talent this region has had for the past 6-8 years.
