He is on life support after that beat down lol. Just kidding. Was a great game for 2 1/2 quarters then Boyd appeared to get dead legs, settled, and reached a lot. Spurlock is great offensive player....as good offensively he matches as bad on defense. Just the 2nd time I've seen him but both times he seems to alienate teammates and get into it with officials(as did his grandfather at least the radio said was his grandfather who was escorted out and got to make a early drive home). I have seen several of the posts(and I enjoy them lol) regarding Ashland and Boyd---let me say that Z is twice the player Spurlock is in my opinion.

Wouldn't surprise me to see South win the 13th. They are clicking on all cylinders.

The 13th is difficult region to pick a winner if you like to do the prediction bracket contests. South Laurel, Bell County, and Harlan County are all worthy. And Knox Central is knocking at the door. I believe North Laurel and Corbin have good teams but not in the category as viable candidates to win the championship.

You are close to correct. The top 3 are SL, HC, and Bell in that order. Knox is not in the equation other than a decent record via a very weak schedule(same as last year minus any kind of post defender this year)I lost all respect for Coach Madden this year when he cancelled not once but twice against Bell. Corbin has a punchers chance. Thats it no one else should have a chance.

That order?? Yeah not so much. South Laurel is a great team, but you have to look at it this way. 

It’s hard to win on the road in this region, it’s hard to win in london, Corbin, log mountain, Baxter, manchester. Winning on the road means more than at home. If South had beat Harlan County at HC, yes they are number 1. But even with the loss to south, Bell County has beat Harlan County in Baxter and was the only team to do it since Mike jones left. South proved they can beat Bell by doing it, but it’s a lot different when the location changes. For instance, Bell lead by 19 over HC at home and by 31 at home over Corbin. As a bell fan, that doesn’t happen at the opponents home gym. 

What was more impressive in my opinion was South playing so well at GC. But the best Road win for the Cards is probably Mad Central. Remember the cards lost on the road to both Clay and Corbin, but we don’t say they are better than south. I know it’s a homer take but Bell is still number 1 for me by a small margin. If south won on Log mountain, i would concede willingly. Sometimes the number 1 team in the region loses on the road in the region, i know its been years since that happened but its been top heavy since before knox centrals reign.

And I agree with most of your take. The Region tournament will not be played on a home floor, its at a neutral site that has long been the death of many perimeter based teams. Plus SL has the one thing that no one else in the region can match......size. This will be the closest region tourney in memory, and personally I hope we don't open like we did last year with the best game of the tourney in the opening round because their is a better than average chance that Bell or HC open with......yes SL. And don't forget the finish SL put together 5-2 over the last 7 games that honestly in my opinion no one else in the 13th could've done better. But at the end of the day you're a homer and I'm a homer. Regardless of which team wins, the 13th has a path to a final four at state!
