Losing the Sykes kid early was huge. Pikeville was up by 13-15 range and really missed a couple open looks that could’ve put them up close to 20. Sykes gets injured and Paintsville cut the lead to 10 by the half. Then the entire second half just chipped away and chipped away. Paintsville’s press gave Pikeville some issues, even that extended zone. But Pikeville found a way to hang on in the end. Paintsville had a great look at a 3 late that could’ve tied the game. Hopeful the kid is ok and nothing serious but it didn’t look great honestly. Anyway it was a fun game to watch between two pretty evenly matched teams. I’m with the above poster in thinking the region is between Martin, JC, Paintsville and Pikeville with Pike Central being a dark horse. I realize that BL just beat Pike Central but I just don’t think BL has a kid that in theory could take over the whole tourney like Pike Central has so I’d give the nod to Pike Central as being a 5th team that could potentially win it.
