Shawn Hager Resigns as Floyd Central Coach

When he took over at Paintsville they were coming off a state championship and had alot of very passionate Paintsville football fans giving him support, at FC he’s going to get the opposite. 0-10 record, no history or tradition in football over there, and very few people on beaver that really care about the success of the program unless their kids are playing. Like I said, I wish him the best of luck and will truly be praying for his success. I would love to see that program rise up as Pburg rises back up. I think it’s very beneficial to have a true rival in your district that you can battle with and sharpen your steel against year in and year out. That would be great for both programs, but it starts from the top. If Hoskins can’t surround himself with guys on his staff who truly believe in him and are willing to support him instead of just waiting to stab him in the back to try to get a head coaching job for themselves then he’s going to fail. I’m not sure where he’s going to find those guys, but I sure hope he can!
We would have preferred to get him back down this way and did everything we could to make that happen. I don’t know anything about Floyd central football but I can tell you if Trevor takes it, it’s because he wanted to and his family wants to be there. Very well respected coach with other places he could go. I’m not saying he’s even going to do it, I don’t know. But I’m sure he knows exactly what he’s getting into no matter what he does. The team, school, and community will all be better with someone like him around.
