Using a simple chromosome test if the sex listed on the birth certificate is missing or challenged. Males compete as males and females compete as females. It is a simple concept that has worked for many centuries.
Why not just show your Birth Certificate, it would be the easiest and cheaper way.

You do know that on birth certificates you can now pick other options besides male and female right?
Not the ORIGINAL ONE. You need to sign up for this.

Just maybe recoup some of my money.
You should be paying me for the education that I am providing to you.

The bottom line is that thanks to LGBTQ advocates such as yourself, providing a birth certificate is no longer proof that the bearer is a biological male or female in many states.

As of January 2025, the inclusion of sex on birth certificates and the recognition of genders beyond male and female vary by state in the U.S.

States Not Including Sex on Newly Issued Birth Certificates:

While the American Medical Association has recommended removing sex designation from birth certificates, no U.S. state has fully adopted this practice for newly issued birth certificates.  However, some states have made it easier to amend the gender marker on birth certificates without requiring surgical procedures.

States Allowing Genders Other Than Male and Female on Birth Certificates:

Several states and jurisdictions permit a third gender option, typically designated as "X," on birth certificates:

California

Colorado

Connecticut

District of Columbia

Illinois

Maine

Michigan

Nevada

New Jersey

New Mexico

New York

Ohio

Oregon

Rhode Island

Utah

Vermont

Washington

It's important to note that policies are subject to change due to ongoing legal and legislative developments. For instance, Montana has experienced recent legal challenges regarding the ability of transgender individuals to amend the sex designation on their birth certificates.  Therefore, it's advisable to consult the latest information from state health departments or legal resources for the most current policies.
