I have seen other coaches lose their minds with refs. Wherever you go you will see that. I just have never seen a coach lecture/yell 2 inches from a ref without a technical being called. I almost feel davis wanted a technical or get thrown out to jumpstart his boys but the ref refused to oblige him. I must say i do enjoy watching him work the refs much like i enjoyed watching billy hicks. It does influence calls. The good ones know how to work the refs effectively but he most certainly deserved a technical.
