Big statement win for the young Redhounds. Tony's strategy was pretty clear from the start in this one. He was going to give lots of attention to Mabe, and gamble that no one else on South could inflict Mabe-like damage. His gamble paid off in this one. Also, Corbin shared the ball really well and got a lot of really good looks near the basket. The Hounds were able to match or eclipse South Laurel's energy and physicality. At least on this night , the Corbin team looked very much like the better basketball team. Mabe is more important to his team's success than any other player in the region. Take away Mabe, and South isn't that special. With him, they are very good. Nice gameplan by Pietrowski and really nice execution by his players.
Corbin needs to bring this intensity to the court every night. If they do, they can be very good. If Ellis gets eligible, that gives them another big time threat to go along with Akins, Farmer, Eli, and the the seniors, Conner Blackburn, and Connor Middleton.
How do you all view this one and what does it say about these teams moving forward?
