One thing I like about Corbin right now is the mentality of the team. They are not about themselves; they are playing for each other. That is a direction that Salmons has implemented immediately. I broke down the film the way I look at it this past year and honestly Corbin looked good by season end. The biggest thing about winning football is winning the minds of the team. Salmons keeps doing that and those kids will run through a wall for him. I think Corbin will have another very good season this coming year and may look different from the past few years without Elam. Elam is a once in a lifetime QB. Not throwing any shade at any other QB, its just he was special to watch. I think one thing to keep in mind is what Covington Catholic did last season. They also graduated a ton of talent. Went back to work and no one honestly gave them much of a chance to beat Boyle at Boyle. So I credit the coach at Covington Catholic with putting the no quit attitude in his team and having them prepared for battle. Thats why I like 4A East. Now with added teams in the East districts, 2cd round, 3rd round, 4th round, 5th round games is just fun to watch. With 4A having so many well coached teams and also games coming down to the wire will make for some hard predictions come playoffs. So like Covington Catholic with a no quit attituded, Salmons seems to be doing the same thing with Corbin at the moment.

Bull , I saw this past summer what you are talking about in your above post. I saw two of the Corbin kids at a restaurant. They had just come from practice. This was just before the hire. I asked them what they thought of the team's chances this season. They were not overly enthusiastic about their chances. They told me they thought they would be okay, but nothing like the previous year. They talked about seeing Haddix around campus and thinking he was gonna be the next coach. I could tell they were disappointed when that didn't pan out.

I saw these same two kids come into the same restaurant exactly two weeks later. Salmons had just recently been announced as the new coach. These two youngsters had a totally different mindset from just two weeks prior. They were enthused, said they loved their new coach, and said they thought the team was going to be very good . The change in these two kids psyche was dramatic in just a few short days. They had completely bought in to what their new coach was selling. I knew, at that point, they were going to have a much better than expected season. And they did. I give Salmons a A- on his initial campaign at Corbin. The only reason for the minus is how the second half of the last game went down.
