I don’t know if they had injuries or what but they got off to a rough start with 4 losses but some of them were to teams with names like Elizabethtown, Bowling Green, Warren East, ……and their last loss was by 11 points to a top 5 rated Cov Holy Cross team (68-58) in a Berea holiday tournament. There is no one in the 14th that can come within 30 points of Covington Holy Cross in my opinion. To have Russell County on your schedule is not an easy cakewalk game. When they’re healthy and have their entire roster they are pretty good.
I want to take a little walk back, lol, of my above comment. I said in the above post no one in the 14th could come within 30 of Cov Holy Cross. I was wrong. I watched the highlights of Hazard’s game with them and although they led by double digits pretty much the entire game Hazard still made it respectable, losing by 16. Holy Cross beat Russell Co by 11 in the same tournament. And Russell Co was where my comment originated, responding to a post that said Knott wouldn’t improve their status playing weak teams and included Russell Co. The Lady Lakers are not a weak team. They do play a tough schedule though and their record illustrates it.
Where did anyone say knott wouldn’t improve their status by playing weak teams like Russell county? You can say what you want, I’ve watched them. They’re decent at best.
I meant Perry, not Knott. I’ve seen Russell County, too, and have observed some of them in summer play back when they were in 7th grade. They are good enough to win the 14th if they were in the region. They’re not a powerhouse but still pretty good. They’re definitely not a team that makes one’s schedule weak or soft.
So you watched them back in 7th grade? Sounds like a pretty solid scouting report.
Lol. I’ve seen them since then too, on streams. I was trying to say that they looked very promising as 7th graders, won an AAU event in Lexington with a lot of schools involved. And they are now in high school and are a good team. They have improved nicely since 7th grade and are a pretty solid team. They’re not going to win their region but they could win the 14th if they were a member, I think. But for what it’s worth that opinion and a dollar might get you a cup of coffee. Lol
