I was grown and married before I knew what red eye gravy was!!!  MY grandma always made it but she called it sop. 

And that's exactly what we did with biscuits too.....sop it up.

"Sop" is also how my granny referred to  her REG .   Take those biscuits and sop it up.

Did anyone's granny ever use the term "suet" like my granny did?   Anyone know what "suet" is?
