No shame in that. The fact that Corbin and Raceland fans on here are unabashedly vocal about their team is admirable if nothing else. Opportunities squandered? I guess some may see it that way. However….really good teams won championships this weekend. Let’s not take away from those programs. While the fan bases of Corbin and Raceland may felt like they had to be the odds on favorites……Belfry fans could have told anyone that those freshman from Tilghman in 2021 were gonna have a special season at some point. You could see them oozing with ability. If anyone watched Sayre this past season….you had to realize they were GOOD. Scary good at times. Despite the loss….Raceland fans should be proud of their accomplishments….and Corbin fans should feel good about the direction of their program. Regardless of the coaching….talent at both schools are putting them in the position to play in BIG-TIME games. Honestly ….as a fan base…you can’t ask for much more.
First to Corbin. Keep hope that Haddox wants to come back to be closer to home and forget about being run out of town by those that thought he was the problem, and not Boyle. I think we're going on year 42ish of no championships, but don't let that hold you back from getting on here and telling everyone how bad their programs are and how good the Redhounds are and always will be. Piss on everyone but the 'hounds!!!
Annnnd to Raceland. We are going on year ..... well forever since your last state championship. I look forward to another year of you telling us how its Pikeville 1a and Raceland 1b and then everyone else is waaaaayyyy behind. I know that nothing can keep you guys from your blind faith, but a very small part of me was sad on Friday with blind hope that a title would somehow validate and maybe quiet you message board warriors for the next 8 months. Either way, just remember that being the bridesmaid guarantees the invite!
So cheers to another year of mediocrity backed up by delusion, I look forward to reading all of your "This is the year" posts.
Well the OP is just banter to end the season to a couple of fan bases that are un-apologetically vocal about how great their teams are year in and out without much merit other than getting close a few times. Both programs are good programs with passionate fan bases, it just gets a little annoying in August September and October listening to them portray their teams as the '85 bears and lets me know that many have no idea about the game of football and are lost in a blindness of fan hood. By the time November comes around reality sets in for the fans who know the game and things cool down.
I'll say this, I think Raceland's Salmons is a good Coach, but if you are going to have the support/facilities they have with the fanbase they have and have 55-65 kids come out to play football at the 1a level you have to be able to get the job done. I don't know how many viewers are familiar with Kentucky 1a but the vast majority of rosters are 15-25 kids in uniforms. Of those there are generally 5-7 football players and 15-18 kids that are just there, and those teams are going to be average 1a teams. The bottom will have about 12-17 kids dressed with 0-2 football players. For Raceland to have the talent and numbers they consistently have, I think it puts Salmons in the hot seat if things don't happen soon.

I think you're right. Of course, there are lots of variables. Winning a title involves a lot of skill but some luck, as well. I'd say the Hounds have a good chance at the hardware over the next four years. We'll see.
If Corbin wants another title in the next 4 years their best option would be to kick about 75 boys out of the school building and drop to 3a or put in a request to play up to 5a. 4a is a gauntlet and in the last 4-5 years the top 2-3 4a teams would beat the top 2-3 5a and 6a teams. Corbin could be the 5th or 6th best team in the state and not talented enough to make the 4a state title game most years.
No shame in the game, I believe Belfry played up for a state title not long ago by requesting to play in 3a when they had the numbers for 2a but didn't want to deal with the LCAs, Beechwoods and Mayfields.
