The season 5 finale was on last night, near 2-hour episode.
So, I have a few questions/things to talk about. First question is, anyone else on here watch this show? Second question is, it took 2 years for the final 5-6 episodes of season 5 to even happen, due to the dispute between Kevin Costner and showrunner Taylor Sheridan, obviously couldn't come to a reasonable outcome, so Costner did not return for the final episodes. They ended up writing off his character in the season premiere last month, which I thought was poorly done. Here is my next question, for the last 2 years pretty much read on major news outlets that the final episodes would be just that, the last ones with nothing more after, but the previews after last week's penultimate episode said, "season finale", if it was indeed the final episode of the entire show, shouldn't it say, "series finale?" I've read where there would be a spinoff of this show featuring Rip & Beth, and I'd assume Kayce, others from the bunkhouse etc. that hasn't been verified yet tho.
Now in regard to these "last" episodes, not going to try and play spoilers here for those who haven't watched, but after watching the finale last night, I thought this last part of the season was awful, from the first episode to last night. Like it was lazily written, poorly executed, basically just rushed it all into 5 episodes and you could notice it week after week. The penultimate ep was probably the worst of the entire show.
I really hate it's over, especially with how great of a show it has been, but these last episodes really put a damper on how great it really was. I may be in the minority with this opinion, but I've watched a lot of great shows, there's a few others that I have the same feeling about, Ozark being the same way.
What's everyone's thoughts on this for those who watch? Also try and keep the spoilers to a minimum!
