1A is so hilarious! Back in October the only teams getting hyped was Pikeville and Raceland.
Talking like the only teams in the world that could make it to Kroger is Race and Pike.
Now that the tables have turned. Lmao

The reason those were the only teams getting hyped is because they are the only teams that actually play anyone all year. KCD was the #1 seed and couldn't score a single point on Raceland. They ran a JFL style offense with the single wing. It was horrific. But when Raceland played them all you heard was how they were 10-2 blah blah. No one in Class A plays ANYONE other than Raceland and Pikeville. You got these teams going 7-3 and 8-2 and it's only because of their weak schedule, not because they are actually great.
You got D1 guys on Sayre and they are out here beating up on teams like Dayton, Berea and Holy Cross. And those games aren't district games. They scheduled those. Of course their stats look good. If Raceland played that schedule they would be undefeated too and have multiple guys with padded stats. Pikeville had Corbin, Johnson Central and Ironton on their schedule! These Sayre people act like they won the Super Bowl because they beat up on a wounded Pikeville team. Well guess what? Raceland beat Pikeville at their place last year and guess what---Pikeville was hurt. When Pikeville was full strength they wore us out in the state championship game. Let's see Sayre schedule Pikeville in regular season next year. I bet they won't.
When Sayre starts playing teams like Ashland, LCA, Highlands then I'm sure they will get some hype too. Raceland is 100% fully healthy for Friday. Sayre isn't playing a wounded animal this week. Let's see how it goes.

Those aren’t the only two schools that play a tough in Class 1A. Hazard also plays a tough schedule. Paintsville use to whe Chirco was there. Newport Central Catholic does too, except that past few seasons.

I agree I wanna see challenge themselves. But question is…. Does teams want to play them?

I agree with Paintsville when Chirco was there, and NCC used to as well. But the poster was asking why this year only Pikeville and Raceland got hype. No one in Class A even remotely played a schedule like those two teams. And I firmly believe if Pikeville hadn't had all the injuries they had this year they would have been right back in the thick of things.
I think teams would definitely want to play them. The RPI factor does come into play, but I'm certain they could easily get some decent 2A and 3A schools to play them instead of beating up on some of the teams they scheduled. Even scheduling some respectable Class A teams would go a long way into gaining some respectability when it comes to pre-season hype.

They got the hype because they played each other for the title in back to back seasons and they have tradition. Campbellsville had hype all season until that loss to KCD. After that they fell apart.

Hazard schedule is just as solid as Racelands.
Pikevilles had the same other schedule for some time in class 1A. I believe the past two years Racelands is 2nd and Hazards has been 3rd. But in 2022 I believe Hazard had the second toughest schedule in Class 1A and Raceland was third.

Hazard this season played, Martin Co, Breathitt Co, Pikeville, Raceland. Paris, Letcher Co Central and Corbin. That’s a tough stretch of teams.

Common teams that Hazard and Raceland both played Hazard went 2-2 against counting the head to head. Raceland went 3-1. If u count playoffs then Hazard was 2-3 and Raceland 4-1 ( 2 wins against Hazard).

Hazard and Pikeville have two common opponents and that’s Paintsville and Corbin
Both went 1-1 against those teams.
Raceland and Pikeville have 1 common opponent LCA. Both were 0-1.
