Here is what I look at. What penalty resulted in points? It's not there. Every time Corbin or Paducah Tilghman had a chance to move the ball, the opposing defenses came up in big ways to force a punt or sack for turnover on downs. Example: In Corbins first possession of the second half you can see a hold call on Corbin player, sad thing was this was one time Corbin wasn't under pressure like the rest of the game, PT was in a 3 man front no blitzers. Then the very next play PT was in a 3-man front, Corbin has a bad snap, pass to Estep was a bounce pass off the ground and not you are in a 2cd and long situation. PT goes into a 4-man front and then Corbin gets another holding call. The very next play is one to go back and watch. PT stays in the 4-man front, its 2cd and long and the play call is a middle screen pass that the running back will sneak through the line for the pass after the play develops and the PT D tackles, and linebacker sniffed it out. Because even the commentators said the entire field was wide open if he would have caught it, pass was covered up by PT defense when usually it would be wide open. That to me was Coaches after halftime identifying another area to defend. So now its 3rd and long, Corbin runs the ball QB run and then punt. So, when you look at the next PT series, PT end us punting. So, when I look at a part of a game, does the result end in points to opposing team, In most cases in this game, it did not. The only scores in the game were 3 plays. Now unlike other games I have watched, and the defense was gutted, this is not the case. Corbins defense was spot on. Pressure on the PT QB and he had his fair share of pressured passes and sacks as well. Corbin was blitzing and that front 4 was playing lights out honestly. PT fans should be able to say the same thing. Now PT brought more pressure once they seen it working especially in the late 3rd quarter and 4th quarters. Sure, I could nick pick any game to death and point fingers but in this case, its not a point finger situation. It was two defenses who actually made major impacts in the game and the first offense to have a score looked like they would be in business, and it was PT. Good game to break down film and learn from. This defense is what I like. Blitzing, Sacks because of Defensive Tackles given the green light to the QB. Secondary mixed it up with tight coverage and gap coverage. From beginning of season to end of season, Corbin was 2 different teams. Honestly, Corbin to get to this game was impressive. They graduated a ton of talent off last year's team, Ton. For what this team looked like against PT defensively, compared to years that I watched them and was wishing they would get the green light to go after the QB, play players both ways, and blitz, there was blitzing plays in this game from Corbin that hurt PT in scoring situations that was sweet to watch on film. Thats what I call a proper defense.
