Why are there so many people on the field after the game, 80% of the people on the field were not in school colors, they are not part of the game, get the flip off the field.
There should be zero activities after a game, no hand shakes, no meet players from other team, game over, go to locker room, period. NFL, College, HS, MS, youth all levels. It is just dumb and stupid to keep having stuff like this come up when there is no need for the action itself, do it before the game.
OSU should not make the playoffs at all.
I don't often agree with you but you are spot on here. Cut out the stupid handshakes, and all other fraternizing with the opponent after the game, at all levels of play.
Agree on the bolded.
Didn't care enough to watch the Ohio State/Indiana or Ohio State/Penn State games, but if reports about how they behaved with their flag post-game are true, then Ohio State's actions not only reek of stupidity, but they also reek of hypocrisy.
Kind of a weird hill to die on if the opposition smacks you around but you want to get upset about them planting their flag at your 50... I can understand why it's seen as disrespectful and even in poor taste, but you had four quarters to do something about it and fighting it out after the game just isn't it.
I'm not opposed to foregoing handshakes in the regular season, but I wouldn't blame any coach who wants to forego them in the postseason or a regular season finale (read: when you could lose a player to suspension in a postseason game). In short, too many high school and college players who've just played their last game just don't seem emotionally equipped to handle the moments, and with cameras everywhere or things like field storming, it's only a matter of time until things get really ugly.
I'm fine with shaking hands pregame, but also think that the captains' refusing to shake the opposition's hands during the pregame is wwwwaaaaaaayyyyy overdone at this point. In four decades of watching games, I've personally witnessed one time where the pregame handshake wasn't warranted (this one was outside of Kentucky and if the incident were to have gone viral the host school's signs and banter would have rightfully been deemed way over the line in the court of public opinion).
OSU had several chances to win this game. Missed two field goals and punted on 4th and 1.
I'm guessing OSU will probably still get a playoff spot. Although, South Carolina is gaining a lot of traction here of late. I'm hearing one of the final playoff spots may come down to Alabama or South Carolina. That's just speculation, but many are saying it should be South Carolina get the spot between the two, with the late run they've had.
Didn't mean to get off topic there. But who knows with OSUs loss to a nonranked opponent, it may open up the door for someone else to slip into a playoff spot. OSU was ranked #2 in the nation so maybe they won't fall completely out of contention.
