I was not aware that George Will was still alive. I used to read and watch a lot of his political commentary, but that was years ago. Before this year's campaign, I might have agreed with his characterization of Trump's approach as "scatterbrained" but that term definitely does not apply to Trump version 2.0. I am certain that he has realistic expectations of what he can get done in 4 years, but he knows the difference between what must be done and what would be nice to get done. Getting illegal immigration and inflation under control are and should be at the top of his list of things that must be done. 

I don't recall any previous president launching his transition before the election. Not do I recall a more capable transition team. That is definitely not a scatterbrain approach.

I believe that he may be referring to Trump's past concerning the scatterbrain approach.  Hopefully you will turn out be be right about version 2.0, although we may not agree with everything on his agenda.  The economy, the border and a declining deficit are what I'm hoping he can accomplish.

McConnell is already setting up barriers to Trump's agenda. Trump seems to be spending his considerable political capital better so far than he did early in his first term, so hopefully he will steamroll Mitch the way that I hoped that he would in 2017 and 2018. IMO, he has assembled a very strong transition team and is making some great cabinet appointments.

Trump has admitted that he relied too much on other people's recommendations during his first term and made to many bad hires because he did not know enough qualified people personally. Self-financing a transition team prior to the election was a brilliant idea. He is putting together a good mix of people with Washington experience and outsiders.
