Stupidity is the least of their problems. They are victims of an almost always fatal condition called "groupthink." 

• Definition: Groupthink is a psychological phenomenon that occurs within a group of people in which the desire for harmony or conformity in the group results in an irrational or dysfunctional decision-making outcome.
  
• Pressure to Conform: Members of the group may feel pressure not to express arguments against any of the group’s views, leading to a decrease in critical thinking and skepticism.
  
• Illusion of Unanimity: Groupthink may produce an apparent consensus by suppressing dissenting viewpoints and isolating the group from outside influences.
  
• Self-Censorship: Individuals avoid voicing contrary opinions due to the fear of disrupting the apparent harmony or because they believe their concerns are unique to them.
  
• Illusion of Invulnerability: Groups under the influence of groupthink tend to be overly optimistic and take extreme risks.
  
• Direct Pressure on Dissenters: Members who offer arguments against any of the group’s plans may be pressured by other members to conform to the majority opinion.
  
• Mindguards: Some members may appoint themselves as protectors against adverse information that might threaten group complacency.
  
• Stereotyping the Out-group: The group may construct negative stereotypes of external critics or rivals, further entrenching their own views.
  These dynamics can lead to suboptimal outcomes and decisions that are not based on a rational assessment of all information available.
