The Electoral College
#1
I wanted to be specific about the electoral college, so I copied and pasted this definition:

"The number of electoral votes exercised by each state is equal to that state's congressional delegation which is the number of Senators (two) plus the number of Representatives for that state. Each state appoints electors using legal procedures determined by its legislature. Federal office holders, including senators and representatives, cannot be electors."

After most Presidential elections, the losing party will complain that the official should be elected by popular vote and not determined by the electoral college.  Rosie O'Donnell went on her X account and ranted that this election should be determined by popular vote.  Evidently she didn't realize that Trump won both the electoral votes AND popular vote.

I've heard/read some compelling reasons for both sides of the argument.  Is the electoral college antiquated, or does it offer a better representation of the popular vote?

What are your opinions?
