I wonder if there is any chance that Corbin ran a semi laxed defense scheme to accelerate the game play so JC wouldn't control the clock as much and turn it into a shoot out that would potentially favor them with the plethora of offensive weapons? I remember hearing many say they thought that would probably be JC's game plan to just burn a lot of clock, just a thought I had. if so, it worked well if it wasn't for Kade's extremely rare interception that led to the onside that Corbin would of potentially won by multiple scores.
A lot of the Corbin faithful caught flack on here for saying that the program was being ran into the ground by the group that took over for Haddix…..Well do you think Greer would have left if he’d had a team that could compete with Boyle?  Roster numbers for the last 10 years have been over or right at 100 kids on the sideline, this year is a little over half…So no there was no scheme to Jedi mind trick JC, we just aren’t close to being the team we where the last couple years, this is what we’ve been complaining about and the two that caused the most damage have rolled out looking for greener pastures just like I knew they would….
I think you and other Corbin fans are selling this Corbin team short. Johnson Central would have played Corbin much closer last season had injuries not decimated JC's lineup during the season.

If McCoart had not been healthy for this season's matchup, the score would have been much different Friday night. Maybe JC would have marched up and down the field in chunks of mostly 3 to 4 yards a carry and kept the margin respectable, but there is no way that they would have scored over 50 points, and the Corbin faithful would have been talking about how well Corbin's defense contained JC.

Having two other good running backs, with a very effective fullback, makes McCoart better, and he makes them better. When you start taking away pieces of the offense, it just isn't the same. JC was due some good luck after having three straight injury plagued seasons.

Corbin's offense looked much sharper to me than it did last season. I don't believe that Boyle County will sail through the playoffs unchallenged. They are definitely the favorites, but a good game plan executed perfectly beat another "unbeatable" Boyle County team a few years ago.
I’m absolutely not selling this team short or if I came across that way I promise that wasn’t my intention Hoot…However I don’t think Corbin wins this game with the previous coaching staff, Salmons seems to be using schemes that fit the rosters capabilities instead of trying to force them into particular schemes because that’s all he knows how to coach….That being said what I was instead trying to point out was roster numbers, they’re no where near what they had been in years past, kids are being ran off by the Corbinites and this isn’t 2004 or even 1994 where parents are gonna tell a kid to just shut up and do as he’s told, when they see all the politics they’re not gonna force them to waste their time for selfish and inept coaches….Salmons maybe can right the ship but hiccups are coming and he could find himself in the same spot as another really good coach once he gets the roster numbers back, it’s what we’re becoming known for…..

Do you think Salmons will get the numbers will get back to where they were, or even better?
Honestly I’m not sure, the dynamics behind Haddix following Jewel and Salmons following Greer are different, Greer left before a whole lot of people figured out how big of a turd he was….Greer and a certain 7th grade middle school head coach have been responsible for a whole lot of the problems with the roster that’s just now rearing its ugly head….Corbin’s culture is a lose confederacy of egos and ghosts that are kneecapping the Hounds future to chase its past….And until that culture can take a step back or have a coach that’s successful enough really quickly to rip it away from them all this will be more of the same…
I always like your take on the Corbin program. I follow Corbin but don't have the insight that you do. As far as Greer, most people figured him out before he left. The program was always about him and never about the kids. "Corbin’s culture is a lose confederacy of egos and ghosts" is a great description. The head scratcher for me in your post is "certain 7th grade middle school head coach." A former Corbin 7th grade coach? Their current one seems pretty laid back and if I'm not mistaken, he doesn't even work in the Corbin school system.
Theres only been one since the last one retired because of his health (after winning multiple middle school state championships) Haven’t won one since he retired and the coach im referring to is a Corbinite he’s always been taken care of whether he’s teaching in the district or not….
