Southwestern at North Laurel 9/27
#7
I follow this district because these teams are close to where I live, and I got some buddies who have kids playing for North Laurel. I am friends with Coach Nelsons Family, so I hope they get things headed in the right direction. North Laurel has a defense capable of holding a team. I do understand that a game like Johnson Central can make one think they just plum stink but that's actually not what it is. North lost a ton of talent off of last year's team for starters. Went through a complete coaching change and then had to hurriedly put everything together. They did beat Bell County on the road and Whitley County with two nice games. I just think sometimes a team when rebuilding will take it right in the mouth when you have 2 top 4 Class 4A teams on the schedule and you don't have the kinks worked out. Southwestern looks to be rebuilding as well based on the scores. I caught some of the Belfry Game and from the looks of it, they made a game of it after a slow start. But in this District lately, everything has gone through Southwestern. North needs to come out in this game and just play football and be fundamentally sound. Should be a better game than some may think. I think right now if Johnson Central played Southwestern, they probably would have had the same results. I heard some good reports even in a lopsided score with North Laurel. North has some game film that no doubt should help them down the road if looked at properly. Thats the good thing about playing quality opponents. The film tells all. Gives you everything you need for adjustments on both sides of the ball.
