St. Ignatius, another Cleveland school, recruits. Glenville, another Cleveland school, recruits, but tries to limit their recruits to Cleveland city students. It's no secret and has been the accepted way for 50 years, so it doesn't matter how many calls to the OHSAA you make. You'd be hard pressed to find more than 10 students playing for St Edwards that actually live in the Cleveland city limits.

I need to correct my earlier comment that St Edwards is located in Lakewood, Ohio, one city west of Cleveland. My apologies for the confusion, but the main point remains.
Your comment makes ZERO sense. All Catholic schools, including, St Ed's and Ignatius, draw from the surrounding area. There are very few Cleveland residents that attend either of these schools because of the cost and lack of preparedness' due to having been a brought up through the Cleveland Public School system. Because Ignatius is located in the the Ohio City neighborhood (a low income area), and recognizing its obligation to provide Cleveland public school students with an opportunity, it has opened a middle school for grades 6-8. There are about 8 - 12 students per grade level. The school is completely funded by Ignatius and eligibility is based upon economic need and academic potential. If a student graduates from the academy, they are given 1st consideration to become a member of the incoming freshmen class.

As someone who attended St Ignatius and have had nephews who attended St Ed's your comment about scholarships is just uninformed and simply ridiculous.

Every public school parent claims that Catholic schools recruit players. That is nonsense. Catholic schools lose about 10% of any given class between Freshmen and Sophomore years, whether you are an athlete or not you have to meet the academic criteria to remain a part of the student body.
