The most important position in the Wing-T offense is not the QB. It is the offensive guard play. Some of Russell's best players from years past -- Drew Mell, Adam Foster, Travis Jones (before he moved to RB as a senior) -- were all guards for the entirety of their career or most of it.
The guards pull on basically every play, and from the timing of when and how the guards launch off of the line to the direction that they take in pulling to the contact itself is vital to the overall timing of the play and the ability for the backs to get to the hole and then the cutback lanes from the backside blocking.
Russell's offense was at its best with Mell because he was a great high school guard and Kasey Clark as a running back because Clark was a straight-ahead runner who had speed to burn and could run over you but had great vision and was also good at seeing the cutback lanes.
All offenses are complicated to run. It just depends on the personnel that you have like anything else. In my opinion, from the personnel that Russell has had in years past, a multiple look would be best, primarily featuring the Wing-T and Maryland I, but at the same time, I get why high school teams don't go multiple. It's a great deal of time to implement, secondary formations can take away from the primary formations and of course you've got to have buy-in from everybody.
