Tho you only pointed out on incident they may have went the Panthers way and yes it was a big moment. You can point out numerous calls from both sides of the ball that didn’t get called. Heck Pikeville had 8 or 9 fouls in the 3rd to HC 1 I think. So no a lot of home cooking.(01-31-2024, 01:49 AM)Gridiron_Raid Wrote:(01-30-2024, 11:37 PM)Grinch1 Wrote:By rule, #2 traveled on the last play and the tip in shouldn’t have counted. Took a dribble, lost it in the air when trying to pick it up, caught it in the air after 2 more steps, and shot it. I mean from the time of the last dribble to the shot was 4 steps. That’s just my point of view.(01-30-2024, 11:33 PM)Gridiron_Raid Wrote: Pikeville was definitely the best mountain team HC faced, I’d like to see the game on a neutral floor.Hmm seems like you’re hinting at Pikeville getting a favorable whistle? I can almost guarantee you HC shot way more free throws tonight than Pikeville. If that is what you’re getting at.
Good win for the Panthers without their starting guard Jarrell. Noah is legit but besides him not a lot of others stepped up.
Free throws don’t always determine who got the whistle. It does if it’s a drastic difference, but Harlan County’s style of play is to drive, be physical, and get fouled. So a lot of free throws are expected. Sounds like a fun game but i’m calling a travel on the last play.
Nothing resembling 4 steps, more like a small hop w/o control of the ball while simultaneously putting up the shot. Probably a 50/50 call worst case IMO. HC got a few 50/50 calls as well so can't blame the outcome on that.
Usually when an out of Region team travels to someone else home court. That Region gets the whistle. I can guarantee you if Pikeville went to HC, 13th region refs wouldn’t give Pikeville double the amount of free throws.
It was a great game on a Tuesday night in the mountains. Which really doesn’t meant anything for either team but was a good confidence booster for Pikeville. When Onkst plays with confidence, he’s a legit player.
