Was cool to see Travis Perry play in King Kelly’s gym and he put up 30 points to boot. Lyon County is very good and every player can run and they pass the ball very well.

Me and my dad got to talking last night. Is there anyone that has King Kelly stories that they could share or anything?

I watched Wayland on YouTube play a state tournament game from 1956.  Both teams were horrible.  Neither could heat a decent girls team of today.  I seriously mean that. Watch it.  I’m sorry but Kelly Coleman was not impressive in the least. Shot a million shots.  Lots of air balls.  Shot off wrong foot on layups.  It took me forever to figure out which player was Kelly Coleman.  He would not be a starter on the weakest of teams from the modern era. I’m sorry but, just being honest. No organization on either team.  Just whom ever had the ball shot it.

That’s why you can’t compare eras. The game has evolved so much since the 50s. So watching it now on YouTube with how we see basketball now obviously it’s going to be a far downgrade. But Adolph Rupp and Jerry West said King Kelly Coleman was the greatest basketball player they had ever seen at the high school level.
