[Old School Hound]

Growing up UK  basketball was extremely important to me. I watched every game I could. The 92 team was the peak of my fandom.  Once I got married and started having kids UK basketball became less important to me. As my kids got older and my life got busier, watching UK became less of a priority.  When Calipari was hired in 2009 started falling out of love with UK. I  absolutely did not want Calipari to come to Kentucky (my dislike for Calipari goes back to his days at UMASS). The Providence game was the first game this season that watched more than a couple of minutes this year. Many times I never knew they had a game until someone posted it on Facebook.  Maybe this will change when Calipari leaves Kentucky.

I still enjoy watching the games. Just not s much as I did when I was 20. This season had some fun moments, especially when they were given up for dead after the SC and GA games. Cal did a pretty good job the last 6 or 8 weeks.  I can't help but feel something just wasn't right this season. It seems to go back to Wheeler. Matt Jones said he was told by a reliable source back in January that Wheeler had quit the team and would not play again. Contrary to what we were told about Wheeler being likely to play in the NCAA, it never happened. I don't think we ever got the true story and maybe never will, much like the Shaedon Sharpe situation last season. Just really weird. Just seemed to be some chemistry issues this season. The team did a pretty good job overcoming the mystery cancer but 2-22 shooting by two of your best players will doom a marginally good team every time. At least we outlasted Duke , UNC , and Kansas.  Some consolation, I guess.

As I mentioned before, I like watching the games and I had fun doing it this season but I just don't see UK basketball as being all that important in the grand scheme of things. I kinda feel bad for those who are devastated by UK tourney losses.
