Kentucky Basketball: How Much Does it Really Matter?
#1
Matt Jones ,  of  KSR, mentioned this at the end of his post-game call-in show yesterday. He closed by talking about whether UK basketball is really that important in the grand scheme of things. He told one caller not to let anyone tell him that it wasn't important or that it didn't matter. Matt said that , while basketball is just a game, it is a big part of our cultural landscape in KY and, while we need to keep it in perspective, it is still important. I say, phooey!!!

How do you all feel about this?  Is KY basketball really important to you?  I think I disagree more than I agree with Jones on this issue.  When I was younger, I lived and died with each big win or loss. As I've grown older, I really have gained the perspective of " it  is just a game."  I do think most of the players want to win and a loss stings for about  15 minutes and then they are on to counting their NIL money and looking forward to their big check in the League. Most players care WAAAAAY less than a lot of the hardcore fans do. Don't get me wrong , I like watching the games aand rooting the team on and I had fun doing so this year. In fact, look at who posted the most on here about UK basketball this season. But, at the end of the day, it's really just not all that important. It really isn't. At least that's my perspective. For many in this state, UK basketball is truly a religion and , if anything, more religion is certainly not something we need.

Do you agree with Jones that UK basketball is a big part of the fabric of our culture and, while some go way overboard in their worship of Big Blue , it is important and does matter?  Or do you agree with me that, while it's fun to follow the games and root the team on , at the end of the day, it really doesn't matter?
