It has been a long time since the SEC was as weak in basketball as it was this season. A third place regular season finish, no SEC tournament wins, and a head coach well past his prime do not bode well for the Cats' NCAA tournament chances. I wish that UK could afford to fire Calipari.

If UK fired him at the end of this  season,  he would be owed  39,750,000 + .75 N  , where N is the amount of his salary from the time of his firing until 6/29/23 . In other words, he would be owed about 42MM . There are slightly more than 3.4 million adults(over 18) living in Kentucky.  It would cost each KY citizen over 18 about $12.31 to buyout Cal's contract when their season comes to an end  a week to three weeks from now.

As a big tax and spend progressive-minded gent, let me propose thie following. The KY legislature could pass a "Cal Buyout Tax"  to help the UK pay Cal.  Jet, Granny , VH  and other BGR Kentuckians, would you be willing to shell out $12  to help buy  Cal out of Lexington ?
I understand that, OSH. It is why I voted not to fire Coach Cal in another thread. My vote was not an endorsement of the overpaid recruiter. He would probably do well coaching high school basketball and poaching from other teams' rosters but because of the heavy long-term investment that Kentucky's taxpayers made in Calipari, IMO, he is the worst hire the University has ever made.

As I said, I am not in favor of firing Coach Cal. Fortunately, I have not paid one cent of Calipari's salary and don't plan to pay anything to fire him.
