Dunking During Pre-Game Warmups: Stupid rule/excessive punishment???
#1
In a recent Corbin-South Laurel game in London, Corbin was assessed multiple technicals for allegedly dunking during warmups while the officials were on the floor. Now, I know rules are rules, although this one is a mighty stupid one. STUPID !!!   Why allow dunking   when officials are not on the court but not when officials are present. I say just ban it at all times during warmups or else allow it at all times. Makes no sense, whatsoever.   The KHSAA is weird.

Also, does the punishment fit the "crime" ?  Corbin was assessed three technicals for dunking, resulting in a bunch of free throws for South before the game ever began. Okay, that's the rule. But Coach Pietrowski was ejected from the game AND had to serve a three-game suspension, in addition.  That's four games that the coach couldn't be there on the bench with his team. FOUR GAMES because kids dunked during warmups.  That's about  1/7  of the season.  Does that seem excessive?

Just a weird rule with consequences that seem excessive to me.   Also, I wonder how often this rule is actually enforced vs being overlooked.  Seems like they stuck it hard to Corbin in South London.
