Grinch1Pikeville has too much size for any team in the Region.  Looked like Pikeville plan was to take away BL first and really only option and held him to only 4 first half points I think.  BL tried to do the same with Samons but Johnson and Fitzer stepped up.  I think Pikeville’s coach is the best in the Region at developing talent.  Fitzer played just a little bit last year and now he’s probably the most dominate big in the Region.  Outside of Robinson, only looked like Parsons was being aggressive to score for BL. Other players looked about the same from last year.  Seems like their coach should try to develop his players in the off season a little more. Also BL likes to play a helter skelter type defense with its press. If you can get by the first trap, it seems like there’s a layup on the other end.  BL needs you to turn the ball over to get extra possessions cause besides Robinson  I don’t think they can score enough points.


Not sure they have too much size? Martin Co. lineup has a kid 6’5, 2 kids 6’3 and a kid 6’2 in the starting lineup. Not to mention a 6’7’ kid coming off the bench and every sub is 6’1’ plus…..Martin co is by far the most athletic team in the region!

Maybe, but they will have to be much more athletic than last year when Pikeville beat them by 14, 22 and 25.

After watching the game I’m dissapointed Martin co didn’t win by double digits. Sammons is the only threat to score and the center had about 12 points on putbacks. Pikeville shut down our most lethal scorer and we still beat them at their home court. Cards find someone to keep Sammons in check they win again on a smaller court by 10+.

Pikeville was up 7 with 2 minutes to go and had some bad turnovers.  Their pg Jarrell didn’t play. That may had something to do with that. Samons is the best player in the Region so good luck containing him.  I’m not a Pikeville fan but Appalachian Wireless Arena is Upike home court not Pikeville high schools.  You seem so worried about the bigger floor. News flash they play Harlan on that bigger floor next week and if they play Pikeville again in the Region tournament, it will be on the bigger floor.  MC played a good game. Not having Jarrel who is a starter and still up 7 with two mins to go, seems to me Pikeville lost it by being sloppy more so that MC being 10+ points better.
