When it comes to Raceland, imo it is really split into two systems. 6A vs 4A alignment. The teams in this alignment have accomplished what they were supposed to accomplish for the most part. One of which exceeded expectations with the 2017 team. Not to discredit any regional titles won and the two state championship appearances, but I’m not sure the 6A alignment teams would have accomplished the same things had they been in the 4 class system. This isn’t a knock on Raceland, it’s likely the same set of circumstances for most small schools in the state. I think 87, 06, 08, and 90 all make the state semis or even championship in the 6A alignment over the last 10 years. I’m not sure the 22 team at Raceland could do the same if the roles were reversed. The competition severely watered down when they went to 6 classes.
