While I'm not in love with Liz' ultra-conservative politics, I like her courage and the strength of her convictions. There are next to no courageous politicians on either side of the aisle anymore. Democrats and Republicans both are a bunch of cowards. Everything is political expediency. Liz took a stand, knowing it would cost her , not only her leadership position in the House, but eventually her Senate seat as well. That's courage that we need more of from our representatives in Washington. I think she's a patriot. You are wrong on so many counts, I don't think that I can respond to all of them in a reasonably short reply. Liz Cheney is a willing participant in a witch hunt that has resulted in our federal government taking political prisoners, which include citizens who were (arguably) guilty of nothing more serious than simple trespassing. Cheney's motivation is far from the noble ideals that you have ascribed to her. Donald Trump decimated Jeb Bush's political career through extremely childish nicknames and taunts of Bush during the 2016 GOP primary campaign. Liz is part of the Bush-Cheney political dynasty, and her participation in the unfounded impeachments of Trump and the Jan. 6 hearings were nothing more than a case of political payback.
This thread is about what you think Liz's future is in the GOP? Trump's on the way out, it seems. Does Liz regain status within the party or has she completely ostracized herself from playing any future role? Does Liz make a political comeback or does she remain a woman without a party?
In polls, she garners 2, maybe 3% support among Republican voters. I'd say she would fare much better if she ran in a Democratic primary than she would running for the GOP nomination.
What do you all think? Is she done as a Republican or does she make a comeback in the days after Trump , becoming a power player again in Republican politics? At one time, she looked like a viable future candidate for the presidency. Now, she has Republicans wanting to stone her in a public square .
What's the world coming to? Guys like me like Liz more than former Democrat Kyrsten Sinema or VP Harris and guys like Hoot and Jet like Kyrsten and Manchin more than Mitch and McCarthy ?
What in the hell is the world coming to ???
BTW, Liz Cheney is not an "ultraconservative," and Donald Trump is not a "conservative." She espouses some conservative positions, as one would expect of a politician from Wyoming. Trump is a populist who holds some popular conservative positions.
Cheney has destroyed any chance that she ever had of becoming a Republican president. The innocent victims of the Jan. 6 hearings will always be around to remind Republicans of what a political hack Liz Cheney has been.
Finally, Hoot is not a fan of Joe Manchin. The man is nothing but a grandstanding political hack who, like so many RINOs, campaigns as a conservative but governs like a liberal. He extorts bribes from Democrat politicians to buy the votes of West Virginians. I hope that Manchin leaves the Democrat Party, but I would never vote for the man. Manchin has shown that the only thing that really matters to him is political power and media attention.
