What made the '76 Corbin team so elite was its defense. They held a Mayfield team that was averaging 40+ points/game to 0 points in the state championship game. They held one of the state's best teams and elite offenses in Middleboro to 9 points in the district clincher at Mboro. The guys on the defense were big , mean, and intimidating, and they looked the part, some with full beards. When your defensive line is anchored by a monster like RC Thomas, you know your defense is badass. Those dudes were SCARY.... and scary good!!!
