I wish all boy parents would do the right thing and do this in the lower grades.  Kids can play other sports into adulthood:  golf; tennis; cross country; even baseball(men’s league softball)- however, 99% of all who ever play football are done after high school.  Then, it’s work, bills, taxes….  Give all your sons another year of being a kid.  Just my opinion; especially since boys lag a little bit on maturity behind girls.

The better programs has done this for years and now where I live they are finally catching on. I can remember we would beat teams in baseball in little league senior league because it went by age and then get to high school and play same team and they would have 4 or 5 kids starting that was older than us. There is definitely some confusion on this issue because I have heard coaches talk about seniors possibly coming back next year. We had a lot of kids fill out paperwork but never repeated a grade yet. It may be different per school board.
