Gray runs off any talent that’s in high school and his inability to develop players runs off any kids grades 4-8.  Please don’t go into the Knoxville Catholic stuff anymore cause that’s getting really old as if they were the Lakers or something.  Bottom line is Gray doesn’t put in enough work to be a winner.

Greatest Accomplishments in Clay County Basketball history, ranked by Coach: 

Bobby Keith: 
Wins 1987 State Tournament, beating Ballard and future NBA All-Star Allan Houston & future WKU great Mark Bell 
Runner-Up in State Tournament in 1985 and 1988
Enters State Tournament Undefeated in 1989 
State Semi-Finalist in 1992, plays in Beach Ball Classic against field that includes Jason Kidd & Rasheed Wallace
Streak of titles in the 13th Region Tournament and WYMT Mountain Classic that no one has came close to touching 

Donnie Gray: 
Wins 1989 State Tournament 
State Runner Up in 1992
31-3 record and a regional title in his final year as head coach
Won over 78% of games he coached and won all 11 district titles and won 8 of 11 regional titles in his first 11 years as coach
Coached 7 players who were first, second, or third team All-State

Ivy Burchell: 
Five regional titles as coach of the girls
Inherited the impossible act of following Bobby Keith after his first retirement 
Upset Corbin on their home floor in the regional tournament when no one gave them a chance

Mike Jones: 
Inherited the impossible act of following Bobby Keith (when he was likely retired for good) and did nothing to tarnish the program given the state it was in when he inherited it
Upset Bell County in the regional final in 2001 and ended the season in Rupp as a quarterfinalist 
Had a 2004 team that was ranked top 10 in legitimate state polls such as the Lexington Herald-Leader 
Gave the program a shot as a legitimate regional contender practically every year he held the job 

Robert Marcum: 
Wins two regional titles, with his first title being one that no one saw coming
Lost to eventual State Champion Covington Catholic in the first round of the Sweet 16 by 2 points (their lowest margin of victory in the tournament) 
Was considered a big upset when his team (who had two starters banged up) lost to Williamsburg in the regional final 
Coached in 4 regional finals

Kevin Spurlock: 
Took over a program that Gray had left in a time when talent was considered down and remained competitive during his five year tenure
Didn't win regional tournament (during a run of strong South Laurel and good Corbin teams) but never lost a district tournament game (even with a field the mighty, world-beating North Laurel dynasty at fault for Gray's district losses in the field) 

Glenn Gray: 
Three district tournament titles in seven years as coach, with only one being away from his home floor
Shut out Knoxville Catholic for one quarter during a Christmas tournament at Corbin 



The expectation at Clay County wasn't that you go into the postseason to win games, it was that you went into the postseason to win tournaments.

One of these things is not like the other, but Corbin and questionable social media posts are kind of a thing too.
