Clay failed when they put all their eggs in the basket of the group that just graduated. If you want a good program you need to invest in every grade level. Gray has ultimately failed to do that and its not going to get better, because a lot of Clays good younger elementary / middle school players have already transferred to other schools (numerous kids at North Laurel). If you want a program, you build it from the ground up, you dont wait until they get to high school. Letting Marcum get away was a bad decision then and will haunt Clay for a decade or more. You reap what you sew, I dont know anyone that played hometown politics and won in the end.
