Having the quarterback back for the playoff game helped Hazard. Pikeville was pretty predictable all season last year. If u could contain the run somewhat and keep Lockhart in bay then you had a shot of beating them last season. I agree Pikeville does need to rely on the run game more and less on the pass.
The difference between this season and last season is Pikeville has many more weapons to choose from now. Coach Mac didn't show much of his playbook Friday evening, so by playoff time look for some new wrinkles compared to now. The one thing i think needs improving on is the end around sweep. The runner needs to be up to full speed as much as possible when he hits the hole. Jmo. Coach will have that corrected. As for the passing game, look for it to be even better as the season progresses. The big tight end is doing a great job as witnessed Friday. He's big, strong, and athletic, and not so easy to bring down. When he is tackled, notice how he stretches' and fights for extra yards, even on the ground. Great things lie ahead for this team, but it's up to these young men. They've got a target on their back and certainly need to be focused.

Pikeville had those same weapons weapons last year, but failed to use them. Lockhart and Birchfield got about 75% of the throws last season. It will most definitely help Pikeville to evenly distribute the ball around.
