Only 11 are on the field at a time. Russell is an example of that. Most guys play both ways. I’ll take 11 good players over 100 schlubs any day. Yes, you are more at risk of an injury derailing your season when you don’t have depth, but if these 100 players aren’t any good, it really doesn’t matter. They just have to bring more buses to the beatings.
