Male had run-ruled their opponents in half of their wins (19 of 38), and this was only the third time all year anyone played them to just a one-run game. Brianda Owens, always very good, was sensational in the circle for Clay in the last month. Losing your final game, especially by one run, is always tough to get over, but this was a special group that proved high-level softball can be played in the mountains.
