All of these things you guys mentioned are bringing back old memories. The switches, the belts, the hands, the paddles, all bring back memories. I think I had my fair share of whippings when I was younger, but I have grown into a better person because of it. And just like everyone else on here so far, I will raise my child with the same discipline that I was raised with.

Now let me ask you guys another question. How old should you wait before you start disciplining your kids? For instance my child is only 7 weeks old. I know that is too young right now, but I don't want to wait too long because most children learn better when they are younger in age. Like around when they start crawling or walking to slap their hands and let them no what the word NO means. Just wondering what the proper age would be to start disciplining.

I think that will come to you naturally BCF4L. It depends on what kind of personality your child will have...I was one of those kids who would rather take a whipping than to hear my parents say they were disappointed in me or I let them down in some way. It hurt me worse than any spanking could have, whereas, my brother on the other hand, was the exact opposite.
